With nearly ten inches of snow on the ground, I thought today would be the best day to actually begin work on my blog. My husband and I recently returned from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. It was an incredible event with a lot of interesting people in attendance. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the World Economic Forum, the event draws an international audience made up of world leaders, CEOs, technology pioneers and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations). The goal of the forum is to try to bring people together to improve the state of world. Quite a lofty goal when there is so much negative news in the headlines these days. While economic issues seemed to dominate much of the discussion, I tried raising the allergy issue as much as I could. During a conversation that I had with an executive from Campbell’s, I asked him when he thought food companies might start to remove sugar from processed food. He couldn’t give me a clear answer, but he agreed that we’re putting too much junk in our food, and, in turn, our bodies. For those of you who know me, you’ll also know my theory about food allergies. I believe that our rising allergy rates today are due to “leaky gut” syndrome. Yep, that’s right, it all comes down to the health of our guts.
I’m not certain yet as to how often I’ll be able to post, but I’ve got lots of good stuff from the Forum to share, as well as some additional information on food allergies. Stay tuned for more. If you’ve anything to comment on or add to the discussion, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to hear from you.
